Behold in our times when the financial situation of many of our Jewish brothers is very difficult, and all they have is as Dovid Hamelech expressed, ‘Go and earn a livelihood one from the other,’ the residents of the charedi city Modi’in Illit (Kiryat Sefer) proposed to found a tzedakah fund called Kupas Hakahal Matan B’seser in order to help those who have fallen to hard times.

Certainly it is a great mitzvah to support the destitute of a city that abounds with talmidei chachamim, as well as widows, orphans and many others suffering from difficult circumstances. In the merit of this, all who donate and assist shall be blessed with all goodness, and may the words of the passuk be fulfilled for them, ‘It is a tree of life o those who grasp it, and those who support it are happy.”
